Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has shared details of his role in developing a new mobile phone featuring a durable screen designed not to break easily.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the musician revealed that his interest in technology dates back to childhood. He said he even wrote a book about security gadgets when he was nine years old.

“I grew up with a strong background in technology. I remember when I was about nine, I wrote a book about security gadgets, and that book is still with my dad. As I grew up, I often worked with computers—I even fixed my dad’s laptop and created complimentary cards. My interest in technology has been a constant throughout my life,” he said.

Shatta Wale explained that about two years ago, he partnered with a company to develop the device, which led to the idea of producing a phone with a strong screen that would not easily crack.

He disclosed that he is the largest shareholder in the company behind the device and plans to launch it across Africa.

“It’s important to me that my fans feel good about this phone; I am a key stakeholder in the project. Our target market is the middle class, ensuring that the phone is affordable for everyone. So far, we have sold approximately 15,000 units, and the company is generating millions in revenue,” he added.
