The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has said the party has many competent members and does not rely on any single individual to function effectively.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Gbande described Sammy Gyamfi as one of the best communicators the NDC has ever had, but said the current national interest requires him to focus on his government role rather than party administration.
He noted that Mr Gyamfi, who now works with GoldBod, remains one of the party’s strongest appointees and has already contributed significantly to building and strengthening the NDC’s communication machinery.
According to Mr Gbande, the party will not collapse in the absence of Mr Gyamfi as a national officer, as he can continue to support and mentor others behind the scenes.
He added that there are several capable party members, including those not currently holding party or government positions, who can be groomed to take up leadership roles.
Mr Gbande cited Malik Basintale as another example of a strong government appointee.
He stressed that the NDC is focused on developing new talent and strengthening its structures, noting that the party must place capable people where they are most needed for both national development and party growth.
