A six-member delegation from the Assemblies of God, Ghana, led by the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. Gen. William Agyapong, at the Military Headquarters in Accra.
The visit aimed to congratulate the CDS on his appointment, brief him on the upcoming 2026 World Assemblies of God Congress, and highlight the rich history and activities of the church.

Delegation
Accompanying Rev. Wengam were Rev. Dr. Ernest Birikorang, General Secretary; Rev. Dr. Simon Abu Baba, General Treasurer; Rev. Michael Ayesu, Regional Superintendent of Greater Accra West; Rev. Dr. Albert Anane, Regional Superintendent of Eastern Region “A”; and retired Senior Pastor of Ringway Gospel Centre, Rev. Ernest Agyei.

Centenary
Speaking on the visit, Rev. Wengam noted that as the Assemblies of God, Ghana, prepares to celebrate its centenary, the support of the Ghana Armed Forces would be invaluable, particularly in ensuring the safety and hospitality of international delegates.
He also extended sympathies to the CDS over the recent stampede at El Wak Stadium and praised ongoing efforts to improve safety screening measures.

Response, acknowledgement
In response, Lt. Gen. Agyapong assured the delegation of the military’s support and collaboration, pledging to facilitate the success of the congress. He also acknowledged the El Wak incident as unfortunate, but emphasised that lessons had been learned and corrective measures implemented.
The meeting concluded with prayers and an exchange of presentations, underscoring the continued partnership between the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and the Ghana Armed Forces.
