Renel Ghana Foundation proudly represented Ghana at the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha, Qatar, from November 3 to 6, 2025.

The global gathering brought together more than 14,000 participants, including heads of state, ministers, development experts, civil society leaders, and private sector representatives, to deepen global dialogue on inclusive growth, social justice, and sustainable development.
The foundation was represented by Executive Director Nelson Richardson-Mandela and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Officer Latifa Abdul-Hadi.

The two delegates actively participated in plenary and thematic discussions, sharing insights from Ghana’s community-led development initiatives and contributing to policy conversations on equity and social transformation.

Throughout the summit, Renel Ghana Foundation engaged in several key sessions such as the Civil Society and Private Sector Forums, as well as discussions on disability rights, social protection systems, social dialogue, care-centered solutions, and participatory governance.
The team also joined a side event organized by the African Union under the theme “No Social Development Without Inclusion.”
During these engagements, Mr. Richardson-Mandela stressed the importance of civic participation and stronger collaboration between government and civil society in shaping inclusive policies.

Ms. Abdul-Hadi highlighted the role of public–private partnerships in advancing gender equality and social responsibility within the corporate space.
She also shared details of the foundation’s One-Stop Support Center initiative for survivors of gender-based and intimate partner violence, implemented with SONGTABA under the Gender Rights and Empowerment Project, with funding from the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

Renel Ghana Foundation further contributed to global discussions on disability inclusion, digital innovations in social protection, and the importance of care work as a foundation for economic and social well-being.
The organization also underscored the value of participatory governance, youth engagement, and inclusive decision-making as drivers of sustainable democracy.

Reflecting on the summit, Mr. Richardson-Mandela noted that the Doha Summit reaffirmed the shared responsibility of all nations to put people at the center of development.
He said the event provided a platform for the foundation to share Ghana’s grassroots experiences and strengthen its commitment to building an equitable and inclusive society.

Ms. Abdul-Hadi added that the conversations in Doha emphasized the urgent need for care-centered and gender-responsive systems that protect and empower survivors of gender-based violence.

Renel Ghana Foundation remains dedicated to promoting social inclusion, gender equality, and sustainable development through advocacy, research, and strategic partnerships that empower communities and influence national policy.
