In a gesture of solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has extended donations to several Muslim communities as they prepare to conclude the fast and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
The delegation, led by Minister Ahmed Ibrahim, alongside the Chief Director and other senior officials, carried out a series of courtesy visits to prominent Muslim leaders and institutions.
Their first stop was the headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, where the minister presented items on behalf of the government to support the community in hosting visitors during the Eid celebrations. The team later visited the Ghana Muslim Mission, leaders of the Shia Muslims, and the residence of the National Chief Imam of Ghana, among others.
At each stop, Muslim leaders offered prayers for peace, unity, and stability in the country, while also invoking blessings for the nation’s leadership, including President John Mahama.

Speaking to the media, Minister Ibrahim explained that the donations were made on behalf of President Mahama to assist Muslim communities in catering for the many visitors traditionally received during Eid-ul-Fitr. He noted that the gesture reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening relations with faith-based institutions and recognizing the role of religious bodies in national development and social cohesion.
“This support is meant to help our Muslim brothers and sisters as they prepare to welcome visitors and celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr after the period of fasting,” he said.
Leaders of the Muslim groups expressed gratitude for the ministry’s outreach, describing it as timely and long-awaited. They emphasized that religious leaders remain key partners in promoting peace, unity, and moral guidance, and urged the government to continue strengthening collaboration with faith-based organizations.
As Ramadan draws to a close, the visits and donations have been widely welcomed, reinforcing the spirit of compassion, generosity, and national unity that defines the holy season.
