Renowned Grammy-winning reggae artiste Gramps Morgan, a founding member of Morgan Heritage, has arrived in Ghana for the first time following the passing of his brother, Peter Morgan.

The Jamaican-American singer received a warm welcome from the Deputy CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, and other dignitaries ahead of his participation in the Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival, themed “Ghana Meets Jamaica.”

Upon arrival, Gramps Morgan was formally received by the Ga Traditional Council through a special ritual, which officially installed him as Nii Oyeeni Mpese I, Development Chief of the state. The honour recognises his contributions to music, culture, and efforts to strengthen connections between Ghanaian and Jamaican communities.

Speaking during the ceremony, Gramps Morgan expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reflected on the significance of connecting with his African roots. He noted that returning to Ghana, particularly for this festival, was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate shared heritage and promote cultural exchange.

The Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival seeks to deepen cultural ties, encourage tourism, and highlight the historical and contemporary links between the two countries.

As a three-time Grammy Award winner, Gramps Morgan has made an indelible mark on reggae music and continues to use his platform to celebrate African heritage and support development initiatives.
