Publish aspects of Prof. Oquaye’s report on 2024 defeat – Eugene Boakye Antwi

Former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to publish parts of Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye’s report on the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on The Big Agenda on Adom TV, the aspiring General Secretary said he partly agrees with the decision of the party’s executives not to release the report in full but insists some portions must be made public.

Following the NPP’s loss in the 2024 elections, the party set up a committee chaired by Professor Oquaye to investigate the causes of the defeat.

However, the report has since not been released.

“I agree with the decision not to publish the report but I do not agree with it entirely because people have accused former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of causing our defeat, but the role of the party in the 2024 election is not known,” Boakye Antwi said.

He argued that while many supporters accept the perception that Nana Akufo-Addo contributed to the loss, the responsibilities of the party executives and individuals tasked with specific duties during the elections remain unclear.

“For the report, if they spoke with Kufour and Nana Addo, of course you don’t expect them to publish what they said. But there were others who worked for the party, these people were spoken to, and we the supporters need to know what they said so we are aware of what the people we entrusted the party with did,” he stressed.

Boakye Antwi maintains that publishing aspects of the report that detail the role of party officials will help clarify whether their actions contributed to the party’s defeat.
