Prudential Bank has donated GHS 20,000 to support the Ghana Prisons Service’s newly launched “Think Prisons 360” Initiative.

The presentation took place during a courtesy call by a Prudential Bank delegation to the management of the Prisons Service at its headquarters in Accra.

Speaking at the event, Head of Personal Banking at Prudential Bank, Charles Ofori, said the bank was proud to support an initiative that promotes social empowerment and described the project as transformative.

“We are proud to support the Ghana Prisons Service in this bold and visionary initiative,” Mr. Ofori said. “We believe that rehabilitation and reintegration are critical to building safer and stronger communities.”

He added, “The ‘Think Prisons 360’ Initiative aligns perfectly with our corporate social responsibility goals, particularly in the areas of social empowerment, education, and national development.”

Mr. Ofori further commended the leadership of the Prisons Service for thinking innovatively about changing the narrative around prisons and prisoners.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Prisons Service, Deputy General Director Francis Omane Addo said the support would significantly enhance the Service’s public engagement efforts and strengthen rehabilitation programmes.

She explained that the initiative’s television station would not only project a positive image of the Service but also provide a platform for inmate education and staff development.

“For too long, the public has viewed the Prisons Service through a narrow lens,” she said. “This initiative will change that, and Prudential Bank’s partnership will help bring our vision to life. The Ghana Prisons Television Station will tell our story, highlight our reforms, and educate the public. It will also create awareness about the work we do in preparing inmates to return to society as responsible citizens.”

The “Think Prisons 360” Initiative is a groundbreaking project designed to transform public perception of the Prisons Service.

A key component is the establishment of the Ghana Prisons Service Television Station, which will showcase rehabilitation programmes, vocational training, and success stories of inmates. It will also educate the public on crime prevention and the challenges former inmates face in reintegrating into society.
