A police officer has died, while two others have sustained injuries after a Police mini-KIA Rhino truck lost control at Aseseso on the Somanya–Adukrom highway in the Eastern Region.

The vehicle was travelling from Begoro towards Ashaiman when the incident occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, prompting a response from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Kpong Municipal Fire Station.

In a statement, the GNFS explained that the truck, carrying three personnel, veered off the road while descending the Aseseso hill.

Preliminary reports suggest that a fault with the vehicle’s gear lever caused the driver to lose control.

The driver, a police officer, died at the scene, while the injured personnel were rescued and transported to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital for medical treatment.
