The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that calm has returned to Sampa in the Bono Region following violent clashes linked to a chieftaincy dispute that left one person dead and several others injured on Wednesday, September 10.

In a statement, the Police said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) swiftly deployed reinforcement teams to the community to contain the unrest and protect lives and property.

Security has since been reinforced, with intensified patrols across Sampa and surrounding areas to prevent further disturbances.

The clashes, rooted in a long-standing chieftaincy dispute, had sparked fear and panic among residents until security forces intervened.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that triggered the violence. The identities of the deceased and the injured have not yet been released.

Assuring the public of their vigilance, the Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding communities prone to traditional leadership disputes, which have previously triggered similar episodes of unrest in parts of the country.
