
The Akwatia District Police Command has launched an investigation into an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which reportedly occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, in Akwatia.
In a statement from the Eastern South Regional Police Command, the complainant has been provided with a medical form to receive treatment and submit it for further investigation. The case has been referred to the regional command for ongoing proceedings.
DSP David Fianko Okyere, Public Affairs Officer for the Eastern South Region, assured the public that the police are committed to handling the matter in accordance with due process.
Tensions flared at the Akwatia Lorry Station in the Vawaso Electoral Area during the by-election, when a confrontation reportedly occurred between Alhaji Masawudu and the escort of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka.
Alhaji Masawudu stated that the altercation took place while he was speaking to the media near the Akwatia Zongo area, where he had been assigned to monitor the polls.
