Police exhume body parts of woman allegedly killed by fetish priest at Awutu Bentum

The Ghana Police Service has recovered additional body parts of a 41-year-old woman allegedly murdered by a fetish priest, Cudjoe Hlolary, at Awutu Bentum in the Central region.

The operation, carried out by the Homicide Unit, led to the exhumation of the victim’s remains, identified as Joyce Akua Amponmaa, who is reported to have sought spiritual assistance from the suspect prior to her death.

Authorities suspect that parts of the victim’s body may have been removed for ritual purposes.

Preliminary findings indicate that after the incident, the suspect transported the victim’s head to his hometown in the Volta Region, where it was buried.

Following ongoing investigations, police have now retrieved parts of the body, including the legs and hands, as part of efforts to piece together evidence in the case.

Confirming the development to Adom News, the Chief of Awutu Bentum, Nai Bentum, expressed concern over the incident.

He also commended the police for their prompt response and ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the suspect A fetish priest accused of killing a 41-year-old woman at Awutu Bentum in the Central Region has reportedly claimed that a spiritual force pushed him to commit the act.

During police questioning, he allegedly told investigators that he experiences a powerful and violent urge to behead people whenever he enters what he described as a spiritual trance.
