The Ghana Police Service has announced comprehensive security measures across the country to ensure the safety of residents as Ghanaians usher in the New Year on Wednesday, December 31.

In a statement, the Police said officers have been deployed nationwide, with patrols intensified in communities, major towns, entertainment centres and along key highways to maintain public order and protect lives and property.

According to the Service, traffic officers will also be stationed at major intersections to manage vehicular movement and ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the celebrations.

Special arrangements have been made at venues expected to host large gatherings, including churches, event grounds and other public spaces, to prevent incidents and respond swiftly to emergencies.

The Police have urged the public to cooperate fully with officers on duty, remain vigilant and look out for one another, particularly neighbours who may be away from home during the festivities.

Members of the public have also been encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activity through the Police emergency lines 0302773906, 18555, 191 or 112 for immediate response.

The Ghana Police Service further wished the public a safe, peaceful and happy New Year as the country marks the end of 2025 and welcomes 2026.
