The Global Alliance for Technologies in Nature Conservation (GfTiNC), in partnership with Mawuli Estate, has announced an ambitious plan to plant 10,000 trees in Ho as part of its #PlantTheBirthdayTree and #CelebrateGreen campaigns.
The tree-planting exercise, scheduled for October 18, 2025, aims to transform the way people celebrate birthdays and personal milestones, by planting trees instead of giving traditional gifts.
“This is more than a tree-planting event; it’s a movement,” said GfTiNC President, Mr. Opoku Emmanuel.
“We are redefining celebration by aligning joy with sustainability. Through this partnership with Mawuli Estate, we’re creating green lungs for Ho and connecting technology, nature, and daily life.”
The trees, which will include shade, fruit-bearing, and indigenous species, will be planted across green corridors within and around Mawuli Estate.
Each tree will be geotagged and tracked through GfTiNC’s digital tree registry platform, allowing the public to monitor their growth and impact in real time.
Mr. Noah Ofori Gyamfi, Chairman of the tree planting committee for Mawuli Estate, said the initiative reflects the estate’s commitment to eco-conscious development.
“This project shows that progress and nature can go hand in hand,” he noted.
Local schools, youth groups, and civic organizations in Ho are also expected to take part, making the campaign both an environmental and educational milestone.
