Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has praised Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo after the striker was named Premier League Player of the Month for February.
Semenyo, 26, earned the accolade following an impressive run of five league matches, contributing four goal involvements—three goals and one assist—making an immediate impact since joining Manchester City.
At a press briefing, Guardiola described Semenyo as “incredible” and celebrated his achievement. “I am so happy for him. He is an incredible guy, and he deserves it. I am happy for him,” he said.
The award is a milestone for Manchester City, marking the first time since Raheem Sterling in December 2021 that a player other than Erling Haaland has claimed the honour.
Semenyo also becomes the third Ghanaian to win the prize, following Tony Yeboah and Andre Ayew, and the first since 2015.
Guardiola himself was named Manager of the Month after City’s strong February performances.
City will look to regain momentum following a 3-0 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid and a 2-2 Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest, as they prepare to face West Ham at the London Stadium.
