A massive fire outbreak has destroyed more than 100 vehicles after gutting a cluster of mechanic shops at Sofoline in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The devastating blaze broke out around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, sending thick smoke into the sky and triggering panic among mechanics, shop owners, and residents in the area.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly through the mechanical enclave, consuming parked vehicles, vehicle engines, spare parts, and large quantities of upholstery materials before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene promptly and battled the inferno for about four hours before finally bringing it under control.

Despite their efforts, the intensity of the fire left extensive damage, with scores of vehicles completely burnt beyond recovery.

No casualties were reported, but the incident has left many mechanics and business owners counting huge financial losses, as several livelihoods were wiped out in a single night.

The exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine what sparked the blaze and whether safety lapses may have contributed to the scale of destruction.
