Nana Bonja Kwame Attamafwiesi has called on the NDC government to take all necessary steps to ensure the construction of the Oti Regional Hospital in Dambai.
According to him, building the regional hospital will provide quality healthcare for residents and reduce the travel distance for referral cases.
He alleged that the previous NPP administration misled the community after they lost the only parliamentary seat in Krachi East, claiming that despite leasing land for the proposed hospital, only an iron sheet fence was constructed.
Nana Bonja made these remarks during the visit of the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to the Oti Region, where the minister inspected the proposed site for the regional hospital in Dambai.
The paramount chief noted that chiefs had released several acres of land free from litigation for the hospital project, expressing hope that the NDC government, led by President John Mahama, will construct the facility as planned.
“Our lands are stool lands and therefore not subject to litigation. We have already leased several parcels for development projects, including military barracks, a fish market, and a 24-hour economy market project, without any hindrance,” he said.
Nana Bonja also urged the minister to address the water challenges in the regional capital, noting that the lack of potable water has discouraged workers from accepting postings in the area.
He added that many residents suffer from typhoid and other waterborne diseases, emphasizing that providing clean water will save lives.

The Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, assured that the government would continue investing to improve healthcare in the Oti Region.
He called on chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders, and political figures to collaborate with the central government to reverse current trends and support healthcare reforms.
During a town hall meeting, the minister stressed that improving health outcomes requires shared responsibility between the government and local communities.
