Former Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, has strongly rejected claims that he has been “contracted” to tarnish the image of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with his recent comments.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said those alleging he is acting on behalf of external forces to undermine the NPP are “out of touch with reality,” describing the claims as the product of a misguided mind.

“To say that someone has contracted me to pursue an agenda to divert attention, that person must be mad,” he stated emphatically.

The senior cardiothoracic surgeon’s comments come after the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah, revealed that the party has been undergoing internal restructuring following the 2024 elections, including constitutional amendments to establish a security and intelligence unit.

Mr. Koduah claimed that intelligence reports indicated some individuals were working against the unity and peace of the party, alleging that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s remarks were intended to create division and distract from the party’s internal primaries.

However, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng has vehemently rejected these claims, arguing that the party is straying from its founding principles.

Meanwhile, Mr. Koduah has invoked relevant provisions of the NPP constitution to initiate processes aimed at the removal of Prof. Frimpong-Boateng from the party.
