The High Court in Accra on Friday, October 17, 2025, postponed proceedings in the cases involving the former Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Osei Asibey Antwi, and his deputy, Gifty Oware-Mensah, after both failed to appear in court.
In Mr. Antwi’s case, his lawyer appeared before the court on Thursday and explained that his client had been directed to report to police investigators in Kumasi and was currently complying with that instruction.
The lawyer, dressed in African print, further informed the court that the defence team had not yet received the official charge sheet.
Following this disclosure, the court ordered that the charge sheet and hearing notices be formally served on the accused person before the matter is recalled for hearing.
In a related development, the court also adjourned the case involving Gifty Oware-Mensah, the former Deputy Executive Director of the NSA, after it was revealed that she had submitted a two-day medical excuse duty. The matter is expected to be revisited next week.
Both cases are linked to ongoing investigations into alleged financial and administrative irregularities at the National Service Authority.
These developments stem from a broader corruption scandal in which the state alleges that approximately GH¢653 million was lost through fraudulent activities.
According to two separate court filings, prosecutors accuse Osei Asibey Antwi and Gifty Oware-Mensah of masterminding separate schemes that allegedly diverted public funds through the creation of ghost service personnel and the acquisition of fraudulent bank loans.
