A recent survey has shown that former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, continues to receive strong support from party members, with 72% of voters who backed him in the 2024 general election still preferring him to lead.
The latest Global InfoAnalytics poll released on Monday, October 20, 2025, shows that only 20% of respondents now favour former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, while the remaining participants remain undecided.
The data positions Dr. Bawumia as the clear frontrunner ahead of the NPP’s January 2026 presidential primaries.

In the NPP’s stronghold, Ashanti Region, Bawumia’s dominance appears even stronger, with 73% of respondents maintaining their support for him, compared to 20% for Mr. Agyapong.
The findings suggest that despite internal rivalry, most NPP loyalists still view Dr. Bawumia as the candidate best positioned to unite the party and sustain its transformational agenda.

Global InfoAnalytics indicated that its upcoming October 2025 delegates’ poll will further assess how internal party dynamics might shift ahead of the primaries.
“The next survey will measure how many delegates who supported leading candidates in previous contests intend to stay loyal or switch their votes in January 2026,” the pollsters stated.
The new data, however, reaffirms Dr. Bawumia’s commanding lead across both national and regional levels within the party.
