The Vice Chairman of the 2024 Bawumia Campaign Team, Nana Akomea, has slammed some prophets and pastors for what he described as the misuse of God’s name in political predictions ahead of the 2026 NPP presidential primaries.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Nana Akomea said it was worrying that different prophets were claiming to receive conflicting messages from God about who would win elections.
“What worries me is that some of these prophets are playing with God. We all know God is not human to lie. His word is one and the same,” he said.
According to him, the outcome of the 2024 general elections did not require prophetic declarations, as several independent surveys had already predicted victory for President John Dramani Mahama.
“When Mahama won in 2024, a lot of surveys had already predicted his victory. So you didn’t need a prophecy to say Mahama was going to win. Everyone knew the many issues that were working against the NPP, and that is why people voted the way they did,” Nana Akomea stated.
He questioned why prophets who claim to speak for the same God would give contradictory predictions.
“If God’s word is one, then why are some prophets saying Bawumia will win, while others are saying someone else will win? God cannot say different things to different people,” he stressed.
Nana Akomea’s comments come after the Founder and Leader of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard Elbernard Nelson Eshun, linked a series of his past prophecies to what he described as a fresh divine confirmation concerning presidential hopeful Kennedy Agyapong.
The Prophet made the declaration during the church’s 31st night crossover service, which Kennedy Agyapong attended with his wife.
Addressing the congregation, Prophet Elbernard said the same angelic source behind his earlier political prophecies had delivered the message to Mr Agyapong.
Reacting to this development, Nana Akomea cautioned prophets against attributing political predictions to God.
“If you are a prophet and you think someone will win, then don’t drag God’s name into it. It is not fair. Unless, of course, some of these pastors are fake,” he said.
He added, “God cannot predict victory for one person and also predict victory for another person. God does not change His mind or His words. His words are truth and straightforward.”
Nana Akomea therefore urged religious leaders to exercise restraint and responsibility in making political pronouncements, stressing that God’s name should not be used casually for personal opinions or predictions.
