New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has defended providing delegates with transportation money during the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he said it is only right to give delegates transport funds when they travel several kilometres to attend meetings.

Mr Acheampong emphasized that this practice is not vote buying, but a standard and widely accepted procedure. He dismissed claims that he is distributing money to influence votes.

“If you invite delegates to a meeting, you should provide them with transportation money. Some people travel several kilometres just to meet with you, so it’s only fair to support them. It’s common practice to offer this assistance,” he said.

“However, I want to clarify that I do not engage in vote buying; I only provide transportation funds. This is something that everyone does. It’s merely propaganda to claim that I distribute money among delegates. Elections are competitive, and it’s not unusual for people to use propaganda; everyone wants to win,” he added.
