Former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee Against Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has publicly expressed his support for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful and businessman Kennedy Agyapong.
The 2024 NPP Essikado-Ketan parliamentary candidate described Bissue as an empathetic, results-driven leader capable of driving Ghana’s transformation.
Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Bissue said Agyapong’s entrepreneurial background and strong grassroots appeal uniquely position him to address Ghana’s economic challenges and reduce reliance on institutions like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank.
“I have confidence in Kennedy Agyapong because he leads with empathy and compassion. For too long, politics has been reduced to theories that eventually take us back to the IMF or World Bank. We need a leader who can factor these realities into policy from the start,” Bissue remarked.
He criticized Ghana’s heavy dependence on imports despite its vast natural resources, calling for a shift toward value addition and industrialization.
“With the resources we have, Ghana should be an exporter of finished goods rather than an importer of almost everything. Having an entrepreneur at the helm will transform Ghana’s economy,” he said.
Bissue also highlighted Agyapong’s strong connection with ordinary Ghanaians, saying this makes him a natural choice for many voters.
“Most Ghanaians are saying, ‘bring Kennedy, we will vote for him,’ and I share that sentiment,” he added.
