The five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have signed a peace pact ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The ceremony, held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, was aimed at ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and credible electoral process within the party.

All five aspirants appended their signatures to the pact, signalling their commitment to maintaining peace before, during, and after the election.

Speaking at the event, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged unity among party members and aspirants. He reminded them that the NPP is bigger than any individual or faction and called on all contestants to prioritise the collective interest of the party over personal ambitions.

Chairman of the NPP Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, encouraged the aspirants to accept the outcome of the January 31 election and to support the eventual winner to maintain party cohesion.

General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong also appealed to the aspirants to work together after the election, emphasising that unity within the party would be critical to securing victory in the 2028 general elections.

Several senior party leaders and state officials attended the ceremony, including former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, former Chief Justice Akosua Frema Osei Opare, and NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
