A charged atmosphere has engulfed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) national headquarters in Asylum Down as party supporters, executives, and media personnel await the Electoral Commission’s official declaration of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer.
From the early hours of the day, the party office has been a hive of activity. Party paraphernalia in the NPP’s red, white, and blue colours dominate the surroundings, while supporters chant slogans and wave flags, expressing confidence in a victory many describe as “decisive and historic.”
Security presence has been heightened, with police officers deployed at strategic points to ensure order, as accredited journalists from across the country take positions in anticipation of the announcement.
Inside the headquarters, senior party officials and members of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team have been seen engaging in quiet conversations, projecting calm assurance as the party braces for the formal confirmation of its next presidential candidate.
Although the Electoral Commission is yet to make the official declaration, the mood at the NPP headquarters suggests a party already preparing for the next phase—uniting its base and turning attention to the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Bawumia, who served two terms as Vice President, is widely expected to be unveiled as the NPP’s flagbearer, a development supporters believe positions the party strongly for the upcoming national contest.
