NPP calls for unity after successful presidential primary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its gratitude to all stakeholders following the successful conduct of its presidential primary on Saturday, 31st January 2026, which saw Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerge as the party’s flagbearer.

In a statement, the party congratulated Dr. Bawumia on his decisive victory and wished him success as he leads the NPP into the 2028 general elections.

The NPP also commended all aspirants; Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, for their dedication, respect for democratic principles, and the maturity demonstrated throughout the primary process.

The party extended appreciation to the Presidential Elections Committee, led by Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu, the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the Ghana Police Service, the media, and all party delegates for ensuring a peaceful and incident-free election.

With the contest concluded, the NPP called on all members and supporters to unite behind the elected flagbearer in the supreme interest of the party.

“United in purpose, the NPP will work tirelessly to secure victory in the next general elections,” the statement said.
