National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has pledged that the NDC administration will put an end to politically motivated recruitment into Ghana’s security agencies.
He said the NDC government would introduce a fair and transparent recruitment process where competence and qualification, not political influence, would determine entry into the security services.
Asiedu Nketia was addressing party supporters in the Akatsi North constituency on Thursday, October 16, 2025, as part of his thank-you tour.
He said the proposed reforms are aimed at restoring professionalism, equity, and regional balance within the country’s security institutions.
“We will make sure that our security services are properly balanced, even regionally,” he said. “We are departing from a system where people are recruited based on their surnames to ensure that the services are truly representative and professional.”
According to him, the NDC’s vision is to build a credible, transparent, and inclusive security sector that reflects the nation’s diversity and strengthens unity.
He added that a merit-based structure would not only boost public trust but also ensure that members of Ghana’s armed and protective forces remain loyal to the state rather than to political parties.
