The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante Akyem Central, Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, has urged beneficiaries of the government’s Nkokɔnkitinkiti poultry programme to handle the distributed chicks responsibly to ensure the success of the initiative.

Speaking to Adom News, MCE Aidoo emphasized that beneficiaries must provide the chicks with proper feed, suitable housing, and appropriate medication to achieve the objectives of the programme, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

The appeal came during the distribution of 10,000 chicks in the municipality, with each selected beneficiary receiving 30 chicks. The MCE stressed that the sustainability of the programme depends largely on how well farmers manage the birds.

The Municipal Director of Agriculture, Madam Martha Ashami Armah, said the Nkokɔnkitinkiti initiative forms part of the government’s broader “Feed Ghana” programme, which seeks to revitalize the poultry sector and reduce the country’s reliance on imported poultry products.
