A total of 17 Assembly Members in the Ayawaso East constituency have jointly paid for and submitted the nomination forms of Hajia Amina Adam to enable her contest for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries on Februay 7, ahead of the by-election.
Hajia Amina Adam, who is the wife of the late MP, Mahama Naser Toure, is being backed by the group as part of efforts to sustain what they describe as a legacy of service and strong political organisation in Ayawaso East.
Speaking to Adom News on behalf of the members, Ismail Abdul Razark said wide consultations had been held before the decision was taken to support her candidature.
He explained that discussions with Hajia Amina Adam confirmed her willingness to step forward and take up the leadership challenge.
According to him, she has assured the team of her commitment to work with party structures, grassroots members and stakeholders to strengthen the party in the constituency.
Mr Razark added that the Assembly Members believe her experience and dedication position her well to continue the development-oriented leadership associated with the late Mahama Naser Toure.
He noted that the filing of her nomination marks the beginning of a campaign focused on unity, mobilisation and effective representation for the people of Ayawaso East.
Hajia Amina Adam is expected to formally roll out her engagement with delegates and supporters in the coming days as the internal party contest takes shape.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled the by-election for Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
