The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is commemorating the fifth anniversary of the passing of Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, the founding President of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

In a statement signed by the party’s Director of Communications, Kakra Essamuah, on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, the NDC paid tribute to the late leader, describing him as a visionary whose legacy remains deeply embedded in Ghana’s history.

“As the party, the nation, and his numerous admirers worldwide remember him for his sterling contributions to the development and welfare of our people, we in the NDC remain assured that nothing will erase his legacy from the history of Ghana,” the statement said.

The party also expressed sorrow over the recent passing of Mrs. Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, noting that she, too, deserves full national honours in recognition of her service to the country.

“For us in the NDC, it has been five long years of mourning and sorrow. We shall always remember him,” the statement added.

“Comrade President, Chairman Rawlings, continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.”
