NCA confirms Multichoice response; stakeholder talks on DStv pricing begin September 8

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has confirmed receiving a formal response from Multichoice Ghana following its notice of intent to suspend the company’s authorisation and request a review of its pricing model.

In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, 2025, the NCA announced that the first meeting of the newly constituted Stakeholder Committee to evaluate DStv pricing will take place on Monday, September 8.

This development follows a warning by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, that government would shut down Multichoice’s operations in Ghana on September 6 if the company failed to engage on subscription reductions.

According to the NCA, Multichoice has now agreed to participate fully in the committee’s work, pledged to respect due process and Ghana’s laws, and reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue.

The outcome of the committee’s review will determine the next steps on possible subscription adjustments.
