Two women have appeared before an Adentan Circuit Court for allegedly making offensive and abusive statements against President John Dramani Mahama.
Priscilla Duah Birago, a 29-year-old National Service Person, and Charity Dede Tetteh, also 29, a beautician, are alleged to have made the comments on August 6, 2025, during a live-streamed discussion on social media.
“We would have been happier if the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, was involved in the helicopter crash and dwarfs had eaten him up, and that a lot of people are dying under his tenure of office,” the two are alleged to have said, among other abusive words.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Angela Attachie, did not take their pleas and remanded them into police custody to reappear on September 2, 2025.
This followed a request by the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, who prayed the court to remand the accused persons pending further investigations.
According to the facts presented, the Republic of Ghana is the complainant in the matter. On August 6, 2025, the accused persons hosted a live-streamed discussion on TikTok during which they allegedly made the offensive statements—conduct which the prosecution said was “likely to provoke a breach of peace.”
It further stated that Birago disseminated the remarks on her TikTok account under the name “Abena Birago.”
The two were subsequently arrested by law enforcement officers, and a forensic capture of the livestream was obtained as evidence.
Prosecution told the court that investigations were still ongoing.
