National Investment Bank donates to Ghana Sports Fund

The National Investment Bank (NIB) has donated an amount of GHc100, 000.00 to the Ghana Support Fund established to support sports development in Ghana.

The donation was made by Mrs Esther Agyemang Prempeh, Ag. Chief Client Experience and Corporate Communications Officer on behalf of the Management of NIB.

Mrs Agyemang noted that NIB appreciates the role of sports in the development of the country and took the opportunity to support the fund for sports development in Ghana.

Dr David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku, Administrator of Ghana Sports Fund, together with the Chairperson, Prof. Korye Anim-Wright of the Support Fund Board, who received the cheques, expressed delight at the donation by NIB.

Mr Wuaku thanked the Board and Management of the Bank for being the first to donate towards the sports fund to help develop Ghana through sports. He reiterated that the Board and the government would use the fund to promote and finance Ghanaian sports development, and also to support athlete welfare, infrastructure, and grassroots programs.

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, expressed profound appreciation to the National Investment Bank and assured the management of the bank that the funds will be used judiciously in the development of Ghana’s sports.

He indicated that funding is the biggest challenge facing Ghana’s sports, and with this donation, the sports fund can start its operations.

‘’Every amount received will be used for the purpose for which the fund is being created’’ he mentioned.

Others present at the ceremony were the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs Wilhelmina Asamoah, Director of Accounts, Madam Perpetual Tawiah, Mr Michael Esoun, Director F&A, Mr Horen Quashigah, Roda Owusu Ansah, Dinah Boateng, Solomon Kusi Tetteh, all of the Ministry; others were Dr David Kofi Mawuvi Wuaku, Administrator of Ghana Sports Fund, Prof. Korye Anim-Wright, Chairperson of the Support Fund Board, Mrs Esther Agyemang Prempeh, Ag. Chief Client Experience and Corporate Communications Office, Rocklyn Ayelgum, Mohammed Tetra, Muban Abdul Rahman, Ramat Ebella Whajah, Karin Bannerman, Bashiru Turawah, Maamle Ahegbebu and Hillal Musah Adama.
