The National Election Security Taskforce has met with the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Election Committee ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The meeting was held to formally notify the taskforce of the upcoming internal elections and to provide critical details, including the election timetable, venues and scope of activities, to support comprehensive security planning.

Speaking during the engagement, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, described the meeting as a necessary step to ensure effective coordination and preparedness for internal party elections.

He assured the Committee that the Ghana Police Service, working alongside sister security agencies, would collaborate with the Electoral Commission and the NPP to implement appropriate security measures to guarantee a peaceful, orderly and credible electoral process.

The IGP further reaffirmed the commitment of the National Election Security Taskforce to work closely with all stakeholders to maintain law and order, as well as public safety, before, during and after the elections.
