Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has dismissed suggestions that the stress associated with his ministerial duties is the reason behind his visible grey hair.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV’s Badwam, Mr. Akandoh explained that his greying hair began long before he assumed his current role and has little to do with the demands of his position.
“With or without the position, I would have gotten grey hair anyway,” he said, laughing off the question about whether work pressure had contributed to the change in his appearance.
He revealed that his grey hair appeared as early as his secondary school days. “I am someone who had grey hair early, as far back as secondary school,” he noted.
The Minister added that his hairstyle often makes the grey more noticeable. “Sometimes, it’s also the way I cut my hair. I used to cut it very short in those days, but once I leave it, the grey shows,” he explained.
Mr. Akandoh also emphasised that he prefers to keep his hair natural. “Everyone has an interpretation of grey hair, but I am not someone who likes to use chemicals on my hair, so I just leave it,” he stated.
On the subject of work-related stress, the Minister admitted that while his portfolio is demanding, it is not overwhelming. “I am really enjoying my work as Health Minister. The place is very sensitive, so you must always be on top of your job, but I don’t think it is something that will stress me to the extent of growing grey hair,” he said with a smile.
