A mechanic has died in a tragic accident at the Takoradi Apollo Traffic area in the early hours of today after a VIP bus he was working on slipped and crushed him.
Sources indicated that the mechanic was repairing the bus’s air system at the time of the incident.
During the repair, he reportedly positioned his head near the wheel area when a sudden explosion occurred, causing the bus to slip and fall on him.
The impact killed the mechanic instantly.
Police have visited the scene and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. The body has been deposited at a morgue pending further procedures.
The incident has once again raised concerns about safety practices at roadside mechanical workshops, particularly when working on heavy-duty vehicles.
