The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kwadaso Assembly, Eric Assibey, has emphasized the need for a collaborative approach between residents and the police to effectively address the increasing cases of criminal activity in the municipality.

Mr. Assibey, who also chairs the municipality’s security council, urged Ghanaians to support security agencies in their localities, stressing that teamwork is essential for boosting national security and ensuring public safety.

He made the remarks during the official handover of a fleet of motorcycles to the Denkyemuoso District Police Command, donated by the Hilltop Executive Estate Landlords Association.

The MCE noted that the municipality has remained peaceful since he assumed office, praising the police and other security agencies for their professionalism, dedication, and efforts in maintaining law and order. He highlighted that a strong relationship between residents and security personnel has been key to sustaining security in the area.

Acknowledging that government efforts through the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) are ongoing, Mr. Assibey emphasized the need for additional logistics to support police patrol teams. He encouraged NGOs, philanthropists, and other organizations to emulate the gesture of the Hilltop Executive Estate Landlords Association to strengthen local security.

“The Association’s donation of the motorcycle to the police command is commendable; it demonstrates what can be achieved when committed individuals come together. Ensuring our security personnel are well-equipped is vital for maintaining national stability and addressing rising crime. Security is not solely the government’s responsibility; we all have a role to play,” he said.

Chief Superintendent Owoahene Kaakyire Asiedu Acheampong, the Abuakwa Divisional Police Commander, also called on residents to collaborate with the police by reporting suspicious activities, noting that citizens play a major role in ensuring community safety.

“Residents bear about 70% of the responsibility for security. Reporting suspicious activities allows the police to investigate and take timely action,” he explained.

The police command expressed appreciation to the Association, noting that the motorcycles will enhance patrol operations across communities to ensure residents’ safety.

Charles Kusi-Manu, Chairperson of Hilltop Executive Estate Landlords Association, said the donation reflects their commitment to social responsibility. He explained that residents of Hilltop, Ohwimase, and nearby communities experienced a surge in criminal activities before Christmas last year. Following discussions with the MCE and the Denkyemuoso Police Commander, they pledged to donate the motorcycles to support patrol operations.

“We observed a spike in robberies before last year’s Christmas celebrations, so we met with the MCE and the police to find solutions. We committed to donating motorcycles to help the patrol team keep our community safe,” he said.
