Residents of Twifo Nuamakrom in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region are in shock following the arrest of 50-year-old Kweku Charles, who allegedly buried his 60-year-old wife inside their home.
The deceased has been identified as Sofomaame Esther Bolu, also known locally as “Nigeria Woman.”
Information gathered by Adom News indicates that Esther Bolu, founder and leader of the Miracles Prayer Centre, had been unwell.
While she battled illness, her husband reportedly managed church activities on her behalf. She passed away, and Charles allegedly buried her in their bedroom without informing family or community members.
Her mysterious disappearance for over two weeks raised suspicion among neighbours, who confronted Charles, who claimed she had been moved to Accra for medical treatment.
Suspicious of inconsistencies in his account, residents pressed further, prompting Charles to attempt to flee. During the search, the woman’s body was discovered buried in a grave dug in the bedroom.
Community elders reported the incident to Twifo Praso Police, who quickly arrested Charles.
Environmental officers were also called to exhume the body as investigations continue, while Charles remains in the custody of the Twifo Praso Police.
