The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.

The arrest was carried out by a special investigative team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police as part of ongoing efforts to track down those involved in the incident.

According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the suspect, Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, was apprehended on February 10, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at a hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident and later relocated to the Western Region, where he was eventually traced and arrested.

Police say the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities have indicated that he will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law, while efforts continue to identify and arrest other individuals believed to be connected to the crime.

The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation, as law enforcement agencies intensify measures to ensure accountability in the killing of the officer.
