President John Mahama has held a high-level meeting with the Acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, the Attorney-General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, and the Auditor-General to discuss strategies for strengthening the enforcement of findings from the Auditor-General’s Report.
According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, the meeting resulted in an agreement to designate special courts to handle cases arising from audit infractions.
These include the enforcement of surcharges, disallowances, and prosecution of related criminal offences.
The statement added that the move forms part of the government’s broader initiative to enhance accountability, deter the misuse of public funds, and ensure prompt recovery of monies owed to the State.
