The lawyer for Angela Attieh, formerly known as Angela List, the Chief Executive Officer of Nguvu Mining Limited, has dismissed reports claiming she was arrested and granted bail by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.

In a statement, her lawyer, Nii Apatu-Plange, said checks at the Police Headquarters confirm that the CID has neither discussed nor initiated any process to arrest Madam Attieh, describing the publications as false and misleading.

This clarification follows a November 17, 2025, ruling by the National Media Commission (NMC) on complaints filed by Adamus Resources Limited. The Commission directed the offending media houses to retract what it described as “misleading and damaging publications” and to apologise to Angela Attieh and her company.

Despite this ruling, the lawyer noted that some publications have resurfaced, dismissing the allegations as “outrightly false, irresponsible and a phantom of the publishers’ imagination.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, Angela List has never been arrested or detained in respect of any matter. At no time has she been treated as a criminal by any law enforcement agency. The assertion that she was arrested is a complete fabrication, deliberately crafted to cast her in a false and damaging light and to create unnecessary sensation,” the statement said.

The lawyers also rejected claims that Madam Attieh had embezzled funds from BCM International, a company jointly owned by her and her former husband, Paul List.

According to the statement, Angela joined BCM in 2001 when the company was on the verge of collapse, leaving her position at KPMG to help restructure the firm. She reportedly worked without pay for more than four years, during which her leadership contributed to growing the company from “near zero” to a valuation exceeding US$500 million.

The alleged embezzlement claims, the lawyers said, were previously raised in the case of BCM International v. Angela List but were dismissed through the judicial process.

Describing the renewed allegations as “a recycling of discredited claims,” the lawyers said the publications amount to an abuse of media platforms and a disservice to the public.

They have therefore urged the public to disregard the reports entirely.

“They are nothing more than a recycling of discredited allegations designed to injure my reputation, and they do not reflect the true facts,” the statement added.
