Interim committee member of Asante Kotoko, Kwesi Appiah, has dismissed concerns over the club’s winless run in the recently concluded GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
The Porcupine Warriors endured a disappointing campaign, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Bibiani GoldStars, drawing 1-1 with Heart of Lions before losing on penalties, and finishing with a 2-0 defeat to rivals Hearts of Oak — leaving them bottom of the table.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Appiah stressed that the results were secondary to the experience gained.
“Even if we lose 10-0, I don’t care. The most important thing is that they are playing games,” he said.
Appiah further argued that the competition could have been better utilised to test younger players.
“If I were Karim Zito, I would have used the youth team for the tournament. The main competition is the league and the Confederation Cup,” he noted.
Kotoko will now turn their focus to the Champion of Champions clash against Ghana Premier League winners Bibiani GoldStars on Sunday, August 31, at the DUNS Park.
