Kwapong Nursing College PTA laments lack of community support for development

The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Organiser of the Kwapong Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Ahafo Region, Derrick Nii Loko, has lamented what he calls a lack of community support for the school’s development.

In an interview with Adom News, Mr. Loko said since the establishment of the college in 2015, residents have failed to contribute to key infrastructural projects to improve teaching and learning.

“Over the years, we have organised several events and invited the community, but they rarely participate. It shows they have detached themselves from the school,” he noted.

He stressed that government alone cannot meet all the institution’s needs, urging residents to emulate other communities that support their training institutions with resources.

Mr. Loko further appealed to the Member of Parliament for Asunafo South and Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, as well as the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, to prioritise the school’s pressing infrastructural needs, including lecture halls, hostels, and kitchen facilities.

According to him, the PTA is currently the only body supporting infrastructure development, but its efforts remain inadequate.
