Asante Kotoko assistant coach Prince Yaw Owusu has confirmed that striker Kwame Opoku will miss Sunday’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak, revealing that he is not yet ready to return to action.
Opoku recently resumed training after several weeks on the sidelines following an injury sustained in Kotoko’s opening match of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season against Berekum Chelsea.
The Porcupine Warriors head into the Matchday 9 showdown in Accra on the back of a 4-2 victory over Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium, but they will be without their lead forward.
Speaking to the media after the game, Yaw Owusu said the Accra clash has come too soon for Opoku.
“To be honest with you, Sunday is too early for him,” he stated. “We just have to prepare him well so that when he comes back, he comes to stay.”
The Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
