Residents and visitors heading to Kwahu for this year’s Kwahu Easter celebrations can expect a more vibrant and visually appealing environment, as the Kwahu South Municipal Assembly rolls out a beautification exercise across the mountain enclave.

The initiative, led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Effah Osei Bonsu, in collaboration with visual arts students from Mpraeso Senior High School, involves the painting of roadside barricades along the Kwahu mountains.

The exercise forms part of preparations toward the annual Easter festivities, which attract thousands of revellers from across Ghana and beyond.

The project is aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the area while reinforcing Kwahu’s reputation as a prime tourism destination during the Easter season. With the influx of visitors expected in the coming days, authorities say the facelift will contribute to creating a welcoming and memorable experience.

Speaking to Adom News during the exercise, Effah Osei Bonsu emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive image of Kwahu, particularly during such a high-profile period on the national calendar.

He noted that the initiative goes beyond beautification, describing it as a way of promoting local identity and pride.

The MCE, who actively joined the students in painting, revealed plans to incorporate creative artworks that reflect the natural beauty of the Kwahu mountains and surrounding landmarks, including the Pra River.

According to him, such artistic expressions will add a unique cultural touch to the landscape.

Organisers of the exercise explained that the initiative also serves as a platform to nurture creativity among students while encouraging community participation in development efforts. They commended the support from key stakeholders, including the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, the Municipal Assembly, and other partners who contributed to making the project possible.

For the students, the exercise presents an opportunity to showcase their artistic talents on a larger stage while contributing meaningfully to national development. Many expressed excitement at being part of an initiative that combines creativity with community service.

As Kwahu gears up for the Easter festivities, the ongoing painting project is expected to significantly transform the mountainous terrain, offering visitors a more colourful and engaging experience while reinforcing the area’s status as a top holiday destination.
