Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has hailed the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo ‘Kantanka’ as “a grace and a gift not just to his family, but to Ghana and the entire African continent.”

Mr. Kufuor made these remarks when Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya and daughter of the late Apostle, led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to him at his residence at Peduase.

Reflecting on the life and legacy of Apostle Safo, the former President noted that every person has a divine mission, and the renowned inventor and industrialist fulfilled his with excellence.

“Apostle lived his life well and told his own story before his passing,” Mr. Kufuor stated, commending the unity and resilience of the Safo family while acknowledging that the late Apostle “nurtured his children well.”

He recounted his personal engagements with Apostle Safo during his presidency, including bestowing on him a state honour in recognition of his contributions to national development, though the Apostle was unable to attend the ceremony.

Mr. Kufuor also recalled participating in one of Apostle Safo’s technology exhibitions in Gomoa in September 2024, which he said attracted international attention, a reflection of the global reach of the Apostle’s innovations and influence.

Vowing to pay his respects, the former President said he would attend the 40th Day observance at the University of Ghana, Legon, and urged the family to give Apostle Safo a dignified burial befitting his extraordinary achievements.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Sarah Adwoa Safo expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Kufuor for his continuous support and mentorship.

She reaffirmed the family’s dedication to preserving and promoting their father’s legacy, adding that they would continue to rely on the former President’s “rich experience and counsel.”
