Residents of Krofrom CPC Downtown in Kumasi have decried the health risks from heavy dust pollution of a 2-kilometre link road under construction, which has been left abandoned.

According to the residents, the road project was awarded on contract two years ago but has since been abandoned, exposing the entire community to persistent dust pollution.

They explained that the road has now become a major bypass for vehicles heading to Kejetia, following the construction of the Suame Interchange, worsening the dust situation.

Some residents lamented the dust has made living conditions unbearable, causing frequent headaches, flu, and other respiratory-related illnesses.

“We are suffering here. Our rooms are always dusty, and we experience severe headaches and flu. We cannot even wear white uniforms in this area.

“We are appealing to the authorities to come to our aid because we live right in the heart of Kumasi,” a resident said.

A member of the CPC Unit Committee, Kwaku Ampofo, described the situation as critical and called for urgent government intervention.
