The Paramount Chief and President of the Krachi Traditional Council, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, has commemorated 25 years of transformational leadership since his installation as Krachiwura.
Known in private life as Joe Como Mprah, he ascended the stool on March 10, 2001, adopting the stool name Nana Mprah Besemuna III after retiring from the Ghana Police Service as a Commissioner of Police (COP).
The anniversary celebration, marked by colourful traditional displays and a strong sense of pride, drew a distinguished gathering of chiefs and dignitaries. Among those present were Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the Bupewura Abudulai Jinapor II, and Ohenepong Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, alongside several prominent traditional leaders and stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Mprah Besemuna III appealed for stronger community support, stressing that unity remains the backbone of development. He urged citizens of Kete-Krachi and surrounding communities to deepen cooperation and shared responsibility, noting that progress is most sustainable when it is people-driven and anchored in peace.
He also called on investors and development partners to consider adopting and investing in the area to help unlock its economic potential. He highlighted opportunities for growth through improved infrastructure, local enterprise, and strategic partnerships that can create jobs and strengthen livelihoods.
Achievements under his leadership were also highlighted at the event. These include spearheading the construction of the Krachi Palace, now a symbol of heritage and unity. He further served as the first President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs from 2021 to 2024, where he advocated for the welfare and development of traditional authorities in the region.

Additional milestones include advocacy that contributed to the tarring of key roads in Kete-Krachi in 2002, improving transportation and economic activity. He has consistently championed critical development needs such as potable drinking water, stable electricity, road networks, healthcare, education, and public infrastructure.
Notably, he played a key role in the campaign for the creation of the Oti Region as part of the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), contributing to the process that led to its establishment.

His commitment to education and youth development remains evident through support for schools, promotion of academic excellence, and advocacy for improved educational facilities. In healthcare, he championed the establishment of the Krachi Midwifery Training School, including providing a seed fund with support from local groups.
His reign has also seen support for the establishment of Kaakye FM to enhance communication and community engagement, as well as the promotion of self-help projects among citizens at home and in the diaspora. Other initiatives include facilitating the establishment of a water treatment plant, installing a generator to support essential services, strengthening traditional governance and dispute resolution, and promoting peace and stability across diverse communities.
Chairman of the programme, Ohenepong Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, commended the Krachiwura for 25 years of steady and impactful leadership. Reflecting on the theme of the celebration, he noted that heritage is not only about the past but a living resource that can create jobs through tourism, creative arts, agro-processing, and eco-friendly enterprises.
He urged citizens, both at home and abroad, to uphold and promote their culture as a pathway to sustainable development.
The silver jubilee celebration of Nana Mprah Besemuna III’s reign was not only a tribute to enduring leadership but also a renewed call to collective action—uniting tradition, community responsibility, and investment-driven development to secure a stronger future for the Krachi area.
