The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi West Municipality in the Oti Region, Prosper Addo, has pledged to ensure the effective implementation of the government’s National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) through rigorous and continuous monitoring.

He made the commitment during the presentation of toolkits to the first batch of beneficiaries, describing the programme as a strategic intervention capable of boosting the municipality’s economy when properly supervised and executed.

He urged the apprentices to take full advantage of the opportunity by applying the skills acquired to build sustainable livelihoods and become self-reliant.

Mr. Addo also cautioned master craft trainers against poor supervision or practices that could undermine the objectives of the programme, stressing the need for discipline, commitment, and quality training throughout the pilot phase.

In all, six master craft trainers and 30 apprentices are benefiting from the first batch of the pilot programme in the municipality.

The initiative is expected to strengthen vocational skills development, promote self-employment, and stimulate local economic growth.

The MCE further appealed to parents and guardians to support the apprentices to succeed.

The Regional Director of the programme, Michael Mampah, encouraged beneficiaries to remain focused and use the training to improve their future careers.

Also present at the event was the Member of Parliament for the area, Helen Adwoa Ntoso, who underscored government’s commitment to improving the living standards of Ghanaians.

She advised beneficiaries to make good use of the training as government continues to explore additional measures to address unemployment.

Some master craft persons and apprentices expressed gratitude to the government for the opportunity and pledged to dedicate themselves fully to the programme to improve their prospects.
