The Kintampo Municipal Security Council (MUSEC), led by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Isaac Donkor, has intensified its fight against illegal mining with a successful operation on the Black Volta River.
In a joint police and military raid at Busuama in the Bono East Region, four persons directly involved in galamsey were arrested, while more than 50 mining machines and equipment were either seized or destroyed.
This marks the first major crackdown since the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight government officials two weeks ago.
According to the MCE, the incident has renewed the resolve of security agencies to take decisive action against illegal mining.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Donkor warned that his outfit will not relent until galamsey activities in the area are completely halted.
“As long as they continue their illegal operations, we will also not rest,” he stressed.
